Im looking to get a carbon air box for my M2. I'm wondering if the E30 air box will fit in the '02 engine bay. If so how long are the intake runners.

Thanks!

let me clarify my "NO".

there are several types of CF airboxes for e30's.

1/ CF replica of the STOCK metal airbox.  made by at least MAXX Automotive.  looks the same size wise, acts the same, uses the stock AFM, weighs A LOT less.  this will work on a 2002 with a stock 2002 brake booster only.

2/ the CF individual runner airbox for an e30.  these are made by a few folks in different runner lengths and for different size throttle bodies.  these will not fit on a 2002 unless you replace the brake system. they will not work with any 2002 brake booster.  long runner versions will not fit in a 2002 at all.

3/ MAXX Automotive makes an individual runner CF airbox specifically for s14/2002 conversions that fits around a Tii brake booster only.  this is what I use.

none of the individual runner airboxes support the stock afm.  you must go with an alpha-n or full replacement ECU solution to use those boxes.

http://classifieds.s14power.com/group-buys/p868-carbon-airbox-and-alpha-n-gb-2013-s14-s50-s54-s65.html was an old group buy. You may have to register to view. Or send an email to info@s14power.com and inquire.

Cheers,

those are not really group buys.  that is the annual advertisement John posts for the prices on the various airboxes.  (John is MAXX-Automotive)

the pics of a 2002 install in his sale thread are of my car.....
