Using an e36 transmission for an m42 swap?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but my e36 G250 fit in the tunnel with slight "massaging" with hammer.  I did have to "massage" where the slave is but that happens on the e30 i believe.  The only other "massaging" I did was and the ears for the shift linkage.  I put a half moon dolly between trans and tunnel and used a rubber mallet to shape the area.  I can snap some photos or go into more detail if needed.  I used the Z3 arm cut and welded to remove the arch, z3 shifter, shift rod from and e36 325, whith required NO cutting.  Pulled it from pull yard hoping it would work and i think it fits great.

Here are a couple that I shot real quick last night.  I will take more today and hopefully show a bit more.

This is the dolly that I used.  I placed it between the ears and the tunnel and shaped this "hump".  That let everything move up into place.  The 'straightened shift arm helped out as well.

This is the G250 mounted.  I did cut out the side section of the heat shield so that it wouldn't hit.  

 

I will get some better pics tonight.

Chris,  The honeycomb looking area right next to the dolly is where the hump is.  From underneath the car, i just set the dolly on the ears of the trans, jacked up the trans a little, shaped tunnel, repeat, repeat, repeat.  I will try and get a better pick tonight, from the top and underneath.  

 

Been busy trying to finish up the swap and keep forgetting to shoot more picks.
