Look at an e30 325is vs. 325ix; hard to tell unless you are an enthusiast. I bet they're quite a bit different underneath. That said, i can't quite pinpoint why i find these cars unattractive and unappealing. M seems to be managed by big pussies these days.

Europe has changed in 40 years the open autobahn is gone."Un" limited is now 150mph. The turbo porsche that passed me while I was just over 121mph like I was parked are gone. Too many people, too many Eastern Block cars and trucks. Empty Abahns are no more! The cars have changed.A fellow worker from Belgium just bought a lovely 1.1 litre gas car to avoid the high tax on 2 litre motors and Diesels( Belgium does not like diesel microdust)

My friends M3 turned up missing located "electonicly"in Eastern Poland headed east. Maybe they can run there but not here in western Europe.

My My subaru is happy here, my 318i is bored, my 1602 thankful to be alive and on 74 mph Abahns

Not exactly an apt comparison. Outside of the AWD components, oil pan and strut towers, an E30 ix is the same as a non-AWD E30.

The X1 is the crossover/small SUV version of the 1 series. Related in the same way an X3 is related to a 3 series. Based off of the same platform, but pretty much different cars.

About 6-8 inches taller, longer, more ground clearance and interior space.
