Got a little futher yesterday installed the rear subframe and test fitted rear bumper. Bolted up driveshaft and lifted into place at the same time. If you do this make sure to get guibo and nose of driveshaft positioned so you can get it on to the pilot shaft coming out of the transmission. Once the subframe is all the way up into the car you won't be able to get it on. Luckily I had my son helping me and after letting it back down off the subframe bushing studs I was able to work it onto the pilot shaft while the subframe stud was still in the big bushing. Then we lifted it the rest of the way up. I have to hit some spots with POR 15 that I should have done to begin with where I can still see Malaga paint. Also some spots around the spring perches the painter missed.

Got a little further today taking the dash out of my parts car and getting it ready to go into the new one. Also got my Mlytle gas pedal adjusted and working. Everything underneath is pretty much done. I just have to get my interior back in. Fuel system is all hooked up and ready to be wired with tank and 318i pump in tank.

Jason,

It can't come soon enough. I can't wait to drive this sucker. I've been waiting 17 years to get behind the wheel of an 02 again. I have been working in a building I recently moved my business out of. We have been trying to sell it and I think I may have to move my car stuff out soon. I currently have three 76 02's sitting around here. One is going to the scrapyard(Fiord behind my car) This car is so rusted I busted holes through the floor crouching in the car taking stuff apart. The only thing left on the body that isn't rusted beyond use is the sunroof clip on the car. You probably saw this car when you went up to Michigan to Manofsteele's place. The other is my original Malaga car I bought new. That one is possibly my next project but I'm not sure about that. My body is revolting on me. I have to go for a triple discectomy on my neck next week. I need a break anyway. I should be back at it soon enough.

I try not to think of all the jobs I have left as a whole. It seems overwhelming and tough to figure out what to do next. As you know there is a sequence that has to be followed when you completely take a car apart and you have to stop and think before you leap in to things. My next major task after getting the dashboard in is the headliner. Luckily some guy whose name I can't remember at the moment just wrote up the best headliner how-to I have seen here on the forum thus far. He even kept track of how many clips he used!

Thanks for looking. Hope all your roads are smooth and curvy.

Or at least part way. Got the grills and kidney back on along with the driving lights. I really like way the chrome 160 Hella's look. I used a set of Pierre's heavy mounts. The lights come from Susquehanna Motorsports who imports these particular lights from Germany unlike the plastic backed FF500's which look basically the same except for the housing and the fluting of the freeform reflector in the FF500. I appreciated the gentlemen working at SM who explained the difference to me. The FF500's throw more light then these but don't have the classic look of chrome like in the good old days. Call it juvenile but me likee chrome!

Got the dash and instrument panel installed and punched the big honkin hole for my Megasquirt cable and MAP line to come through.

Finally rolled this project outside yesterday to wash off all the grime collecting over the last year and a half that it took to put together. On the home stretch now.

More progress today as I put the seats back in the car and finished putting the interior in. Back seat is really a pain in the butt to get in. Almost got me thinking rear seat delete. No one ever sits back there and it would make a nice place to put an Ultra subwoofer I inherited from my sons car. We'll see.

Just have to finish some wiring in back by the fuel pump and she is almost done. But then again, no project like this is ever done. I keep losing shit then finding it again. The latest thing to go missing is my newly plated piece of metal that holds the jack down under the wing nut. I just had the damn thing in my hand too! I'm sure it will come out of hiding sooner or later. On the plus side I have two nice jacks and two good tools kits.
