red hot interior

And the Red Queen said, "Off with their heads"!

A few yrs back when BMW had the US tour of the European owners classics, there was a turbo that had red leather interior. Hot hot hot...as is yours.

Excellent effort. To my eye, it would have been better to leave more of the mblack, such as the top of the door panels and the console body. Accent and contrast consistent with the way BMW did the black and tans. You have a major field of RED going there.

It works for you! A lot of work. What else are you working on?

does all that dye hold out? Does it get scratched up easy, or does it stay looking fresh?

nick...like a book or a song...i know not everyone will like it & that's ok with me...the dye is permanent...i've got a lot of dyed interior parts in several cars and have never had a failure...it'll always look as good or bad as original color vinyl, depending on how you care for it...the dye is a lacquer base, penetrating dye, not just a surface paint

the nice thing about dye is, like paint, if you decide you don't like it you can always re-dye it

scott...it's not as bright as it appears in the pictures...it was bright out yesterday with lots of color reflection...inside the car, it actually seems quite dark compared to the taupe colors i had before

Great effort, and certainly unique, but doesn't float my boat in anyway. If you'd done something as subtle as the red and black NK interiors it could have been classy, but I'm kind of with the Ford Escort comment. Out of interest how does all that dye hold out? Does it get scratched up easy, or does it stay looking fresh?

yes:

The NK two-tone interiors are so classy. The all-red looks good too, reminds me of the E9, but you should have known where to stop: the painted steering column and center console insert are just too much, it makes your car look like a Nash Rambler or something.

andrey..i couldn't agree more about the NK colors but try as i may, i could not see black with my red & white car...i considered red & white interior, making the seats with red or white inserts but decided that may even have been too pimp'd for me

i do have an NK steering wheel just like you pictured though...or i did have til my husband found it and decided he want'd it in his new o2 truck...it's a classy piece of work...

What about the 2002 "lux" interiors? I recall that there was a color scheme like yours available, maybe on the "diana" version?

anythings possible but i'm happy as a pig in mud with the red interior, as is...like it or not, it's an attention getter for sure

hey joe, long time, no speak....the o2 truck's going to be much more subtle than my 76...it's saddle/tan...see the pictures i posted above for the colors...steve doesn't have the patience to spend 1/2 the day in parking lots talking to people about his ride...i am a firm believer however, that the o2 truck will unavoidably attract just the kind of crowd he tries to avoid...i may end up with it as my driver before all's said & done
