any one want to advise re my horn.

1. how does the control work? does pressing the horn button

ground the horn wire? touching the wire pictured to ground has no effect.

2. is there a relay involved? what is the small relay shown in the photo?

3. could i be missing the relay? what about the empty relay slot pictured?

did anything go there?

any help much appreciated.

Did the horn work and suddenly stop? Probably a fuse.

Could be as simple as cleaning the brass ring and making sure the wire is connected and the carbon pin on the steering wheel is making contact with the ring at all times.

Had this issue with Vern when I bought him in June. Someone who didn't know what they were doing installed the steering wheel with the carbon pin installed wrong.

Mike, I have a 76 and my relays look different than yours but I have three and the one that controls my horn is the one your missing. I had a loose wire coming into the relay housing and once I got that re inserted everything worked fine. You can make a simple wire jumper and close the circuit to see if the horn honks. The other relays in mine control the headlights, move one over and see if that solves the horn problem, than you know you just need another relay. hope this helps. Ryan

OK-

I tested the relay- it's defective

i'll get a new one

I imagine it's a dealer item?

when I jump the proper slots in the socket I get good sound!

but when I look at the brass ring in the steering wheel

I don't see what will hold it under tension

maybe there is a spring missing?

I don't know what this should look like

anyone care to comment on my photo?
