Recaro Seats?

I am relatively new to the 2002 scene but have noticed several 2002's have "Recaro" seats. Was that an actual option during production or are they not original? I'd like to buy a 2002 and keep it as true as possible.

A special style of recaros were an option but VERY rare. Most Turbo's have these. Many recaros you see are out of the later E21 (320i).

I bought a 1972 roundie that had the original Recaros that were installed in the car when the car was originally bought.

I have removed, recovered, and installed them in my current restoration project.

The original 2002 Recaros were not only very rare, but are very similar to those used in Porsche 911s of the era. The Porsche owners seem to have bottomless bank accounts when it comes to these seats!
