Welp, I am working on my 66' Cortina GT finally, which means I am driving the 2002! Both great news! I figured I would post my blog here as I am a 2002 enthusiast and I know there are Cortina fans out there amongst us.

Check out my blog here, I have posts with pictures of car shows as well and will hopefully get more of that stuff too, I love pictures of cars and I know others do to.

One thing I have quickly found out about the Cortina, the community and SMALL and not too helpful/friendly.....maybe I will find that to be different (I hope) but I have been spoiled over the years with the FAQ and all the 2002 peeps out there, so I have high expectations about what a car community is like!

Check it out here, I will post pictures here to, but for real updates check out my blog (I need followers)

Well, the paint is actually great in its original form, so I am going to keep it white with the chrome siding and all. I'm toying with the idea of a light brown engine bay, and I might make a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood. If I made one of those, then I would mess around with a different color for the hood, see how that turned out.

There is an Anglia out there that is white with a gold roof.....I kinda like that too, so that has been a thought i've had also.

Awesome project!

From reading your blog you say its getting a 2.0l engine. Will it be the newer Miata 2.0 and 6-speed transmission?

good to see another Cortina given a rebirth. I had a 64 lotus Cortina race car for a few years and miss it. Very cool car and a dream to drive. It was way more fun than the 02. Good luck with it and enjoy.

I really enjoy seeing those on the track.

With the Cortina's live axle, I suspect you'll notice quite a difference in the way it handles compared to a 2002 (one of my videos shows how 'hoppy' a Cortina can be if you don't toss 'em into a corner...). -KB

Megasquirt 3 + MS3X board (allows the sequential ignition with the use of a cam sensor which the Duratec engine has) + a 4-channel driver board to drive the Ford COP's (need the driver board for this type of COP).

Posting in case anyone working on MS3 needs info on this. I haven't tested it yet, but the driver board is installed in the case with the ignition inputs to the 4-channel board running from the DB37 pin location on the MS3X board (inside the case) to the input on the 4-channel board.

Fits in the case fine, so it should all work!

Some progress pictures from my blog.

Finished up my "strut top repair"......that was an undertaking.......

Test fit the engine with the modded sump......to double check clearances and all. This avoids speding $1500 or so on a dry sump system

Go to the Blog at the bottom of my sig here, click on some adds so I can rack up some $ to maybe actually buy some stuff with =) Gotta do what you can when you are on a BUDGET!!!

4 months in working on the car in the garage and the engine is in and mounted! That is a big step towards getting it running, though it wasn't as hard or time consuming as I thought.

I still have to mount the transmission, which will probably be harder.

BTW, if you notice, I have chassis mounted the engine which so far I am happy with, easy to get the mount in and mounted. After trying to get my 2002 engine on its mounts a few years ago...this chassis mounting seems way easier. It is something the Euro ford guys do a lot of which is where I got the idea.
