OT -Any FAQ members in Lakeside Oregon? Online Car Purchase?

Just curious because 90% of the FAQ members are trustworthy people.

I am in CA and probably going to buy a diesel VW from a person in Oregon as the Long distance, snow trip, surf trip, family car.

the 02 will be the around town car.

I plan to fly up and drive it back.

Just wondering if there is anybody in that neck of the woods who could eyeball a car for me and give it a quick look and drive it around the block.

Also, the seller needs to pay off the lien still but needs my money to do so.

aside from an expensive escrow company, is there any way to handle this so i don't get burned?

Maybe i pay the loan company, they send me the title, then i go get the car?

If it's a local bank, go with him to pay it off in person. If its not, i would ask for a copy of the most recent invoice and make a cashier's check directly to the financing bank. The bank will not send the title to you directly. Of course, get a bill of sale, etc.
