  1. The newly-installed guibo (big 6-bolt variety) is rubbing the shifter rod (red box), but only in 2nd gear and only if you get on the gas. If I go easy, it's fine, but that's no fun. Not sure what I'm supposed to do - it was close with the old flex disc, but it didn't hit. Raise the shifter platform? I could lower the trans (Getrag 262/5) a smidge by installing thin rubber isolation washers between the trans carrier (from e30 M3) and the body (I like that idea as it might reduce some vibration as well): Other ideas?
  2. Unfortunately, since the Alpinas farmed out to Borrani were not BMW parts, there are no BMW caps to fit. Proper caps do show up for stupid money on German eBay from time to time. If you want to know what they're supposed to look like, drop me an email and I'll send some photos. Once my own Borranis get to the top of the "do" pile, I'm going to either have some made or follow some internet leads for reasonable facsimiles. Two of my Borranis still have original paint on them and it's a hard color to describe. It's not silver. More like a warmish grey (less brown than Sahara) with a very (very) slight amount of metallic flake. I don't have the wheels here in VA (they're at my brother's house in CT) and I don't have photos, but I'll see what I can do. Otherwise, if you're in or around Wethersfield CT, you're welcome to go have a look at them or borrow them to take to a painter for a match.
  3. A number of folks of the E9 persuasion have had their dashboards redone with justdashes, and I've heard mixed reviews. At 600 bucks per E9 dash (less to the trade), the consensus is that it's expensive for what you get. The material they use is a larger grain than OE and some folks have complained that the padding beneath is too "puffy" and squishy. I've seen one of their recovered dashes and though it was ok, I'm not persuaded to send them mine for that kind of cash. Several owners have reported better sucess supplying dash material that more resembles the original to local auto interior shops at far better rates (quicker than justdashes 6 month SOP). I suspect it's a face-to-face discussion/understanding issue versus having justdashes crank out their usual product.
  4. It's ugly, but the long term plan is to locate an aftermarket cooler per Nick's setup. The reason this one is as shown is that it's cheap. It uses the stock cooler and the factory oil lines with some minor bending. If you're going with AC, I dunno what to tell you. I've seen some folks (non-02) put oil coolers in the fenderwells.
  5. I recently pulled the M badge for a more subtle apprach. Motorsport roundel and the vanity tag get the message accross, while the automatic tag... well, that's just to add to the confusion.
  6. I'm in the throes of stripping and rebuilding a coupe, tho' not the one in the photo in previous post. A lotta stuff is being swapped -- interior and motor. We'll see what's left over afterwards.
  7. 5 digits only. 13k could be 213k, I suppose. Ask for some kind of record-keeping to support 133k, though +200k mile coupes are unusual, as they seem to return to the earth before they make it that far.
  8. the new software here. Coincidence? Kinda makes you feel at home. http://www.bmw02club.nl/phpBB2/ Also, will the bookmarks to posts from the old site that I have scattered scattered all over the place ever work again? I'd hate to lose them.
