  1. Don - Pardon my ignorance - who is Creighton? - Rob
  2. Does anyone happen to have one of these they would like to part with, maybe for less than $2K? Thanks! -Rob
  3. Spritz - I love things in "original used condition". Only $97 a month for two years! ? - Rob
  4. Steve - As always, thanks for your wisdom. For what was this steering box make in '83? Mystery! - Rob
  5. Jason - Thanks for your comment. So, they're not red, they're brown? It does appear to have all the original fasteners, so it's easy to believe no one has been in there. Now I just need $2K! - Rob
  6. I saw this on ebay and gave it some pondering. Is there enough information on that ID tag to prove that this is the real thing? The paint clearly isn't a match with others I have seen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/B-MW-Alpina-2002-2002tii-Steering-box/392677101126?hash=item5b6d610e46:g:k-QAAOSwp5leQ07m Someone smarter than I please respond. I would like to get this and discover that I have made an expensive error! ? - Rob
  7. Hi, Ace - Yeah, I know about the 50 year-old part. It's just a vacuum hose, no hot liquids flow though it under pressure - safety risk low, I think. I searched and search for a 12x19 hose and none I found had the wound wire. Sigh. I may have to live with this 3' long, $36 part that I ordered. We will see. - Rob
  8. Hi, Jae - Interesting. My Blue Parts Book had the *710 part number, so I searched for that and bought one. We will see . . . - Rob
  9. Hi, Jae - Interestingly, Blunt has "image not available" and ECS has it, not in stock, and the sales guy couldn't tell me if it was a 12x19 hose. He also couldn't tell me if it has a wound wire in it. Previously, I had just hunted for a 12x19 hose with the wound wire. I may just have to go buy one and look at it when it comes. Is the Cohline hose you bought 12x19 with a wound wire in it? If so, can you share the part number? Thanks! - Rob
  10. Nobody has one of these that is better than my poor, beat-up old one?
  11. I have these panels for sale. They are in great shape, other than a small tear in the steering column one that you most likely will never see when it is in its place. $100. shipped to you in the CONUS
  12. Hi, Steve - Your wisdom is always appreciated. I am the kind of guy that can make *anything* work, particularly if BMW made thousands of these things with plastic runners. I will figure it out, take great care, and the plastic intakes will work. The fanatics - Steve, you are already in that group! ? I won't be leading the charge to aluminum runners, even though they might be arguably better. Between you and Coloincaalpine, I think this deal is done. What's more, ShermanMartinez has a NOS set of plastic intakes. I have emailed him about these already. Thank you, Steve! - Rob
  13. Sherman - I have emailed you on these, thanks! - Rob
  14. Hi, Danny - Well, things have changed a bit. I have long vacillated between the aluminum runners and the plastic ones the car came with. I called that nice guy at La Jolla Independent about buying a few plastic runners, since most of mine look like they have been through the war. He said recent product from BMW split apart along their seam in a very short amount of time - not good. This is steering me towards putting on the aluminum runners. Since the hose clamps we for the plastic ones, I don't need the 57mm ones any more. However, I could use 8 or so of the 39-40mm for radiator/thermostat hoses. We'll talk on the phone, thanks, Danny! - Rob Mark 7 - Thanks, but no t-bolt clamps on this engine. ?
  15. Hi, All - I am looking for some hose clamps like in the picture. The plastic intakes on my car came with two of them (nominally 57mm diameter), and the others are the worm-drive style. I *believe* that the Norma type came on the car originally, and I prefer them over the worm type. BelMetric only has Normas up to 34mm. Anyone have a bunch of these? Let me know, thanks! - Rob
  16. I have already bought (after lots of searching) a dimensionally-correct replacement hose (it's just a rubber hose) that I will use if I can't come up with a better original. I want the fabric-covered, wound-spring-wire hose that came on the car. Surely someone has a nicer one than the mealy one that came on my car. I don't need your one-way valve, mine works fine. Let me know what you have, thanks!
  17. SS- A gold star for you, sir! I have ordered them, and they *haven't* told me (yet) that they can't ship because they are out of stock. So, keeping my fingers crossed. I also went ahead and bought the B6 rears from IE. - Rob
  18. I have been looking for lowering springs and slightly-stiffer-than stock-dampers. IE can fix me up with their stage 1 spring set and Bilstein B6 rear shocks, but no fronts. Another vendor I talked to said his supplier contacted Bilstein, and they have no stock and seem to be going away from "aftermarket" shocks. Waiting for something that may never come is not part of this resto project. Is there an alternative that's not KYB? Has anyone had a good experience with KYBs? I'm currenly skunked. Let me know your thoughts, thanks! - Rob
  19. I will take them. Let me know how to comp you, thanks! - Rob rcsteinway@earthlink.net
  20. How about fixing me up with the entire sheet of plywood? Thanks! - Rob
  21. I recently sent a bucket of stuff out for plating. When said bucket came back to me, one of the clips that keeps the plywood down over the spare wasn't there. Does anyone have one that would like to fix me up with? Thanks! - Rob rcsteinway@earthlink.net
  22. I am not using these panels for my rebuild. Someone else who needs these should have them - $100 delivered in the CONUS
  23. Brandon - What years had the seat stop? Thanks! - Rob
  24. Hi Crash - Thanks for the offer. I am restoring the car, so it has to look like it did when it left the factory. - Rob
  25. IE - I think I have seen these. It 's the different image on the knob face that I don't like - I am trying to restore my car (a '72) and have to have one that looks like the one I took out. Roman Numerals I, II, and III are what I need. Thanks! - Rob
