Now all we need is a flat pattern for a 02 and we're on our way.

Thats the wiper relay, the blinker should be just ahead of the hood latch lever.

John. a bad ground is a bad ground regardless of it's size.

I might add hi wattage driving lights in multiples should have the load wired directly off the battery +/- terms.

That little pig tail on the braided negative strap from the battery to the left fender is a bit dicey.
It's rated to 60 amps more than enough to handle the hotel load on a stock 02 by at least 3x.

The way it turns off with no sputter makes me think ignition carbs generally sputter as they die.

Check the wire to the idle cut off solenoid is it securely attached?

I've usually seen the buzzer either dangling on its own or zip-tied to the column.
Yup they just tucked it in under the cover, I think it was a North American only add on and they didn't bother modifying the cars just for that and I think the Germans knew it was going to be a pain in the ass and they would be removed in short order.

If you look closely at your last picture just above the weld repair it looks like a small crack is just forming there are probably more you can't see, as Toby said the first step is to measure the head thickness to see how much it can be skimmed. If I were to guess I think someone along the way put cold water into a hot engine causing the cracks.

My other thought is the slave isn't completely bled
If it's a 5 speed is the clutch slave bleeder pointed down? And it does sound like you might have the 215mm throw out bearing (the shorter of the two) installed.

Flank gap is the distance between the ring it self and the lands on the piston if it's too much the rings will "flutter" between the lands and it is a know wear point on the m10.

I just bolted a short piece of 2x2 square tubing just behind the wheel that sticks out about 6 inches to either side with bolts through the tube ends vertically that are adjusted to about a inch from the floor so it can't tip far enough to fall. I just about ruptured a gut the first time it started to tip, I was just glad it was a m10 and not some big block v8.

Looking good, the 3 wheel engine stand show is somewhat unstable if the front wheel stops while moving, think screwdriver on the floor, so be care full when moving.

Measure the distance between the 2 top holes and compare that to you m10 if it the same it'll fit.

Your solution might be as simple as a battery disconnect switch for long term storage.

Maybe try attaching the ground to the flasher body with a hose clamp?

There could also be rust in the wheel cylinders that's not allowing the brake pistons fully retracting.

Some electric fuel pumps are pull through capable so you can just plumb it into your rubber fuel line near the tank and wire it to a momentary switch and prime when you need it otherwise let it run on the mechanical pump.

If they are that deep into your car it's been stolen already.

I think you need this part number 32311152052 if those are NLA then I think a m8 x 47mm screw would be my go to the original bolt seat is counter sunk if I recall.

The front bumper can be fitted to a 02 and the contour makes for a nice tucked in look. Ive also seen a 02 with the e21 dash fitted but that takes quite a bit of work.

The connection on the green and red wire at the front of your resistor needs attention and your starter bypass relay has wires missing from it.

Stuck needle valve? Old gas makes a pretty good glue when it dries at least enough to cause your needle valve to stick.

Is that a crack in your first picture just behind the timing chain tensioner on the block or is just the picture?
