  1. It looks like there are some things to clarify. First, if i don't have the con rods tightened but the main bearing bolts torqued the crank can spin by hand. But as i tighten down each con Rod the crank gets harder and harder to move. I tried Plastigauge and that's where i got my .025mm of clearance. However that was only on one of the cylinders. i will check tonight the other ones. Also it appears i may have been putting the caps in backwards, all i know is that i am putting them in the same way as when i tore the engine down. However i don't know the history of this engine so i will try it as suggested. I will report if i have any update. Thanks for the help so far.
  2. I bought a new set from Bavauto. There wasn't any indication that certain ones were paired together or that they went to one specific conrod over another. Is there something i missed?
  3. by this do you mean on the backsides of them. Then no. All mating's that move relative to each other then yes. Also i made sure that all the bearings lined up with the appropriate slot.
  4. So i am rebuilding a 83 320i engine to put into my car. I currently just installed new main bearings, con rod bearings, and new seals at either ends of the crank along with new piston rings. I have all of that installed. When i torque down the main bearings the crank still rotates but when i torques down the con rods it slowly gets harder and harder to turn. I can torque down all the bolts and it still turns but if i wait 5 minutes and try again it's like the thing is seized. I have applied generous amounts of assembly oil while putting it together. Also i checked the clearance of the bearings and they are .025mm I know that is a bit on the tight side but i wouldn't expect it to lock it up. Any advice for things to check would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Well somehow i was able to get spark. Now i just have to adjust the timing. Thanks For the help.
  6. thats looks to be what i have. I moved that wire with the 19 on the plug to (-)post. And the Resistor wire and black wire are in a plug together. THen there is a bottom wire on the (+)post that goes to what looks like a condenser. Also at 4 ohm resistance it should be a blue coil so how would i bypass the resistor wire. i couldn't quite follow what they were saying on the link.
  7. also this little guy is getting really hot. I don't know if that's related.
  8. I measured both the old and new and they are around 4ohm resistance. So I was able to run before on a blue coil
  9. It's a 76. I checked the voltage across the terninals and I am getting 9.28v.
  10. The one i pulled out was an old blue coil as well. It was with the car when i bought it. I think i mixed up the way everything plugs in. Also by "speaker wire" do you mean the black wire that goes the the plug with 19 on it?
  11. What wires should I have on each end of the coil. I can't seem to get any spark from the coil. My guess is I mixed up plus and minus.
  12. That's Kinda the issue. I've been in a rush to fix it and i'm doing this in a parking lot so i forgot to take pictures. I did find one plug near the distributor that wasn't connected but i can't seem to find a spot to plug it into. I have the one that goes to the condenser but there is another in that same area that i can't match up.
  13. I just had to remove the head on my engine for a head gasket issue. While i was at it i had to remove and decided to replace some of the ignition components such as the points and coil. However now that i have it rebuilt i can't seem to get any spark from the plugs. What are some of the things that i should double check that could be causing this issue. Thanks in advance. Max
  14. Anybody rolling on some aftermarket steel wheels like Bassett or Aero?
  15. I have a friend that just clobbered a curb in his $900 1990 525i and ruined the front end. iI was wondering if it would be able to fit the diff in to an 02 with minor modifications. It's an LSD so that would be a huge upgrade for me.
  16. Do you still have the e30 harness and some of the sensors?
  17. I would be interested in the throttle body? Email me at maxlupfer@yahoo.com if you are willing to sell it! Max Lupfer
