the first Sunday of April (April 7th) is approaching for the next Beemers @ Basco gathering .... 10:00am
Centro Basco
13432 S. Central Ave
Chino
Cheers,
Carl
p.s. Bernadette tells me the meal that day will be the Basque Easter Brunch. I'm not sure of the exact menu, but there should be eggs and bacon and plenty other.

"bilstein strut collar tool" .... until I read this post I had never heard of such a thing. I've always used a big pipe wrench.
So do others on the Forum .......

the in-line filter: that will do the job !!
as for down-the-road fuel pump replacement: doing the Kreeger 5-series method has worked for me, 2 years and no problems.
(I could not find a new real-deal tii fuel pump)

+1 rubber diaphragm. Same problem with my 1948 Chevy truck, for whatever reason the diaphragm would get a hole in it. I always kept a spare in the truck toolbox.

don't know about the mesh filter, I'd guess NLA.
I'd suggest calling 2002AD, ask Ben if he has one .....
800-4-2002AD
An alternative is to install an in-line filter between tank and pump. I did that when doing the Kreeger 5-series pump install.

years ago I pulled out the sender unit from the tank to clean the filter, and I very gently cleaned the wires ..... didn't break one !!
seemed to help just a bit with gauge operation.

the flickering oil light ..... I have had that problem in both car and motorcycle. Fortunately for me, always the sender unit going bad, never the oil pump.

yep, the longer one is length of my original plug.
and see how that old washer is well-flattened ?? Same happened to me and became a locked washer ...... replace the washer often !!

in my '74tii none of that stuff was hooked up. The wires are there, nothing was connected. Maybe the dealer did it. Or maybe I disconnected everything and don't remember doing so.

path88,
yes, the owners are Basque, the mom and dad immigrated, the children were all born here. As best I know, Centro Basco is the only Basque restaurant in the Inland Empire, and is certainly the local hangout for the Basques.

Further up north in Bakersfield, there are many Basque restaurants.

should be the M22 ..... BIG diameter.
(M12 is a much smaller diameter)
I've always used AL washers, personal preference.
-- HINT: replace them often. I used one over and over and over and over, ad infinitum .... eventually it became a locked washer, I trashed the drain plug getting it out. Replace the washer often.
Cheers,
Carl

I'm going to do another one tomorrow (Tuesday) the 5th.
Everyone is invited !!
8:00am .... trap shooting at Prado Shooting Park in Chino
www.shootprado.com
Noon ..... lunch at Centro Basco
-- similar 4-course meal, different menu

when in doubt about terminology, I use the word "thingie" and have never yet been misunderstood. Seems to be a serviceable T-word that works equally well as verb/noun/adjective/thingie that everyone understands.

as best I know: first course: Oxtail Stew and main course: Ribeye Steak.
Cheers,
Carl
p.s. if you're not yet a true believer like bourkeco and myself, the Oxtail Stew will do the honors.

in my opinion, Item 1 is not so much a "washer" as it is a Grease Retainer/Seal thingie. It cups up & around the bearing to act as a grease retainer.
when I reassemble that item in my '74tii I "fill" it with a "large amount" of grease. When the strut is reassembled into the car, you'll see that grease could flow/drip down out of the bearing .... IMHO, that piece helps retain the grease in the bearing.

Carl

since billwilliams and I have our fans installed with the blades in the same direction, I'll be so bold as to say our fans are correctly installed.
