  1. Can anyone tell me what relay or plug goes here? It's just beside the fuse box.
  2. I must admit that I love the sound of the weber carb.
  3. Found a unit for $8 from Autozone that works great. It was my luck as I had ordered the $70 part but when i arrived at the store 30 minutes away they told me the part wasn't on the last delivery truck. I was pissed. They told me it would be in for sure by tomorrow. I canceled that order and while there nother customer told me about the $8 unit from Autozone and the rest is history.
  4. Is there a huge difference between a regular 2002 and a Tii? Do you notice it at all speeds or......... Wondering if I should try and find a Tii and sell my 2002.
  5. Hey guys previous owner had fuel pressure gauge installed but never finished hooking it up. I found the fuel pressure hose hanging in the engine bay and am trying to find out where i hook it up. Thanks.
  6. If anyone ever needs to replace their flasher relay don't pay $70 for a new one. Spend $8 at Autozone. Tridon EL13. It's a 3 plug variation as the newer flasher relays don't need to be grounded. Eliminates the fourth plug which is the ground on the factory plug. Works great.
  7. The Wisch Wasch Geber on my car is the smaller one. There's a huge one that is hung by a bolt and can be swiveled. Trying to get a better photo
  8. thanks guys. Is there a diagram which identifies the relays and shows the various locations? Since there doesn't seem to be one location for all the relays.
  9. Can anyone tell me where the turn signal relay is is? Also, there are these three relays under the hood. Thanks.
  10. My seats sit fairly high in my 74 '02. Has anyone lowered their existing seats. If so what is involved.
  11. i read this article and it seemed like such a productionL http://www.02restoration.com/restoration-tips/maintenance/how-to-change-your-oil/
  12. does the oil filter just twist off or do i have to remove the housing?
  13. BMW Dealer right down the road from my house. I usually go independent, but for such a quick and easy. Anyone else get their 2002's oil changed at the dealer? Hmm, wondering how much they would overcharge?
  14. big improvement. upped the plug gap to 28 and 1/4 turn richer on weber and she hums now. hopefully the missing won't come back.thanks everyone
  15. wow thanks so much. i need a diagram to figure out what my engine components are.
  16. LOL, Oh i that what that is? i wasn't suggesting the removal of that item, but all the EGR/Emissions components.
  17. Can i clean/repair the EGR?, is it still sold new?, or should i remove the whole system? cost of removal? i really believe it's malfunctioning and causing all my issues.
  18. well, that's just an uninformed opinion right there. An EGR valve actually is one of the few things that don't really hurt performance on your average engine, and does a lot to clean up emissions. Well. If it works right. Which was asking a lot back in the '70's. t but i think if the egr valve were bad it would cause a lot of problems. and i think the problem from what ive read is that they tend to go bad quite often.
  19. Is this the EGR valve in the image? just to the left of the radiator near the bottom hose in the pic?
  20. I'm believe i'm having EGR valve issues and am considering a tii exhaust manifold for my 74 2002. How much does the manifold go for, where can i buy one and what's the cost of installation? Thanks.
  21. All my cars have been 5-6speeds. I'm new to a high rev/high rpm, 4 speed, 2002 engine. Just found the following: 0-20 (1st gear), 20-35 (2nd gear), 35-56 (3rd gear), 56-74 (4th gear) I've been shifting way too early. City driving from 30-45 i've always been in 4th gear. Hearing the loud 4 cylinder makes me want to shift early all the time. Clearly these cars are built to be driven hard and fast. If I am to shift per the specs suggested by the manual, I can only drive the car really fast and aggressively. Or at least at high rpm's all the time. Are you guys typically only as high as 3rd gear when driving in the city? Coming from 5-6speeds, I never stayed in 3rd for any period of time
  22. going to increase idle speed a hair and make carb 1/2 turn richer. may also gap plugs to 30. currently at 24 with pertronix installed. i keep thinking engine is not getting enough fuel at low speeds with higher gear. if gas pedal is halfway pressed or more, no hesitation at all. i've always had 5 speeds or 6 speeds. perhaps i'm shifting too soon? i'm already in 3rd pre 3K rpms. if i leave in 2nd until 3K rpms and beyond, car rolls like a rocket. real spirited driving. but don't want to drive like that all the time.
  23. Mannn I just went thru this same scenario. So mechanic runs compression test. real low on all 4. in fact I had 70-90-110-80 or something like that. Yank valve cover. ALL valves too tight. I guess as the seats wear in the valves come up higher. Has the car been harder to start? Almost wanting to flood at times? Run a compression test. Its easy and cheap. i learned my lesson. Once he adjusted the valves back to normal car hauls ass Compression test was done when pertronix was installed and was fine.
  24. 74 2002, 32/36 Weber (recently calibrated), new Pertronix ignition, new plugs, new 8mm wires, new coil, new fuel filter, new air filter plugs gapped at 24. If I go to 3rd gear before car gets to 3000 rpms, car seems to misfire/hesitate as if gear is to high for low speed. Even at idle there's the occasional hesitation. If i drive aggressively, as in not going into 3rd gear until i'm at 3000 rpms car runs fine. Highway speeds car is great. Perplexed. Almost as if it's tuned for higher speeds. I know spark plug gap can effect this. But for what Im describing wouldn't it point to a large gap? Any ideas?
