  1. Would I be turning it by hand. The heater lever seems to be pulling a cable which seems not to have enough slack to pull inwood to allow the lever to go completely right. I've attached a photo of what i think is the heater valve. If it is, how do i turn it?
  2. My blower motor is bad but i should be able to get heat from the engine nonetheless. I've noticed that i cannot slide my heating lever all the way to the right to warm. It only goes as far as halfway. Do I need to remove the entire dash to get a look at the mechanism? Thanks. 1974 2002.
  3. Any difference between the two? I have a 1974 2002.
  4. Oh sorry, the previous owner had the engine rebuilt. Dino oil was replaced with synthetic after 1000 miles. I just need to change the oil and was wondering what grade.
  5. Color of oil looks fine but i'm guessing after 6K miles on rebuilt engine I should change the oil? What grade/brand do you guys suggest? 1974 2002.
  6. read a bunch of old posts on here with a wide array of suggestions and settled on 32F, 30r. thanks.
  7. the fan turns fine by hand. does anyone have the part number for the resistor? a picture of it? so if the blower motor is good would a bad resistor prevent it from working at all?
  8. is this part number for the bmw 2002 one or the previously mentioned porsche one? thanks.
  9. which model year porsche did you get the blower motor from? i have a 74 2002. no ac. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,339944/highlight,porsche+blower/ thanks. i live in LA so i rarely have a need for heat, wont have many opportunities to use it, but i just kinda like everything to be working in the car!
  10. thanks for this link. i found another one but this one is much better.

  12. Anyone ever tackle this? How long did it take? The fan never worked on my car and i've messed around with the heater controls before with no effect. Yesterday while driving I had the heater control set to fan and after a few miles smoke came flowing into the cabin and from under the hood. It was insane. I wasn't quite sure what was going on but when i switched the fan lever off the smoke stopped.
  13. +1, the year and having to go through emissions in CA. You may try to post it in other states where emissions won't be a problem. Ebay perhaps?
  14. also, i don't need a carpet set. mine is in place. i was attempting to put a floor mat over the pedals!!
  15. that was the plan, remove the pedal and then cut a whole for the studs but i couldn't get the pedal off. I then started cutting around the pedal but didn't like the look of any of it. Removed my custom mat and chucked it into the bin. I just have an old BMW carpet now slightly off to the side, nothing going through the pedals. I may buy a set from the person mentioned above. Of course I'd still have to get that pedal off.
  16. I modified a generic floor mat. i found a photo of an aftermarket BMW drivers side mat and it's clear to me now the mat goes around the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal's rod detaches from the pedal and goes through the far right hole in the mat and reconnects to the pedal. The pedal itself does not go through the mat as it's off to the side, connected to the floor at it's base. The mat runs along beside it.
  17. I cut out drivers side mat and successfully slid clutch and brake through. i detached the rod from the accelerator and slide it through the final hole. problem is that the base of the accelerator pedal is attached to the floor off to the right of the hole. Do i cut the floor mat around the pedal or is the pedal removable and then cut a horizontal slit to go over the width of the pedal? I've yanked, tugged and pulled the pedal and can't get the base off the floor. Help!
