  1. http://www.boltscience.com/pages/convert.htm 60nm = 44.25lb
  2. Throw in some BP5ES and gap to .024". Also when you pull the plug see which if any are fouled. You might have just been running too hot of a spark plug, forcing the engine burn more fuel. Might just be an easy fix.
  3. Then I stand corrected. I have not seen a check yet, its been about 4 months. I am not going to wait at the mailbox.
  4. Lawyers cost more money than the ticket and fines.. Why pay someone to admit guilt? Go to traffic school for one and get the point for the other. Regardless you still have to pay the fine on both. If you fight it (both) and win you still pay the fine, just not the points on the CDL. Just went through this in California.
  5. The green goes to the - terminal on the coil. My mistake if I said the dizzy. Out of the back of the tach should be these for wires. The red goes to the ignition terminal. The white gets connected to the lights. The black is a ground. Tach's are really pretty straight forward set up. Just follow the wires and see where the go.
  6. Check with the guys over at mesa performance in Costa Mesa. I got alot of odd firewall gommets from them.
  7. red - hot black - earth white - lights green - dizzy
  8. I would go through and check the ground cable and ground connections. On the 72 I am helping restore, the lights were very dim at there brightest. I went in and cleaned all the ground connections and cables. It was amazing how simple of a fix this was. The headlights did not pulse nor do the dash lights. Also the checked the reading on the alt. It was perfect. Just use a really good scuff pad on the terminals, and 100 grit on the end of the ground cables to the body/motor.
  9. If all you did was pull the distributor out and put it back in, then you should have to have checked all the other stuff. I am thinking that you could make sure the points are gapped correctly. Second install the Dizzy and do not tighten the 10mm bolt. Have someone try and start the car. Then slowly spin the Dizzy counter clockwise and clockwise. I would try to get it to fire before going any further. After what you explained it sounds like the dizzy is way too advanced or retarded in timing. PS. Make sure the spark plug wires are going to the correct position for firing order on the dizzy cap. (I did this the night before I was selling a car and put them in backwards. Car would not fire, and the guy was coming over to pick up car. Corrected firing order and it turned right over.)
  10. After reading the first two posts. That sounds like to solution. I did back off the rear drums to let the wheels spin freely. Quick Fix. This time on the test drive I am wearing goggles!! Kubali Shive!
  11. This guy is the master of HDR. http://www.stuckincustoms.com/ Here are some that I tried. http://www.tchphoto.com/TCH_Photo/HDR_Images.html
  12. I installed the front on my friends 72. I was actually a really easy process. The aluminum blocks provided bolt to the sub-frame. I will snap a few pictures tomorrow when I am working on the car and post. It took about 45 minutes to set up. Fairly easy.
  13. I have a E30 battery cable for rear battery placement. $45 OBO shipped to lower 48. stultis at gmail dot com
  14. I never ran bumper on the old VW's I had, and never was pulled over. But there is a Vehicle code for bumpers. Passenger Vehicle Bumper Requirements 28071. Every passenger vehicle registered in this state shall be equipped with a front bumper and with a rear bumper. As used in this section, "bumper" means any device designed and intended by a manufacturer to prevent the front or rear of the body of the vehicle from coming into contact with any other motor vehicle. This section shall not apply to any passenger vehicle that is required to be equipped with an energy absorption system pursuant to either state or federal law, or to any passenger vehicle which was not equipped with a front or rear bumper, or both, at the time that it was first sold and registered under the laws of this or any other state or foreign jurisdiction. Amended Ch. 451, Stats. 1973. Effective January 1, 1974.
  15. The luck I had was to connect the three bolts on the bottom of the strut first. I then compressed the spring while someone compressed the shock. It took a few tries but we managed to get in in properly. After that I connected back the track rod and other linkage.

  17. Post some pictures of what you have done. If you bought the IE stage2 suspension for the front and back, the longer springs are for the rear end. I just finished an entire IE front suspension upgrade on a 72 about two weeks ago. I am just up the 5 in Orange County, might be able to take a look on Friday or Saturday..
  18. After a long night of tinkering with the motor and carb she runs and sounds GREAT!!!
  19. I had a tough time also. I applied a little liquid wrench to them and about three minutes later, they came off easy.
