  1. Thanks for the response, very helpful guide in general but not in this case because I am a dope. I kind of left out a big consideration - my engine is out. Oops.
  2. Good morning gentlemen, hope everyone's week is off to a good start. Any ideas on how to check my brake booster prior to diving into swapping out the MC and soft lines etc. If the booster needs addition now would be the time but not looking to make additional work. As a reminder I am not going for a nut & bolt level restoration, "just" trying to keep her preserved and get her back on the road. Thanks!
  3. @fjord-tii - thanks for the note back but just to be clear that isn't my red car. I have some compatibility checking to do but I think I could wire brush, then phosphoric acid and then shoot that repair with Epoxy primer and then top coat with two stage spray can paint?
  4. Would you guys recommend getting the engine bay detailed and then diving into any surface corrosion and touch up, or the other way around? I know normally you do all the messy stuff first but I’m wondering if I should go after all of the paint to see what will come up/can be saved?
  5. Hold on - isn't my car actually Fjord Metallic?
  6. Since the engine is out and I’m overhauling the brake system now would be the time to address some paint wear areas in the engine bay. Its overall solid but some scratches and areas that need touch up. Battery tray has surface rust so that has been taken down to bare metal. This is a Polaris car. Any tips on lasting / tough finish on battery tray? How about paint matching? Just try Paint Scratch or similar? This is the worst of it. Thanks gentlemen!
  7. Hi Rob, hope you’re doing well and thanks for asking. I’ve made a decision to focus on the. Alloy wheels that I have and see how that all comes together. This is a Polaris blue car (But very scruffy). I did get the 1972 Alfa GTV finished and we managed to complete the Copperstate 1000 in it. Good event, Great people, exceptionally well run.
  8. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with that! Thanks for jumping in.
  9. Good morning - don’t you have a 914 to be putting back together? Hope you are doing well!
  10. So it looks like the universal consensus here is; Heck no! Heck yes! Got it. ?
  11. Thanks for the on going discussion. Any chance that someone in SoCal has a set of bottlecaps weighing down their garage?
  12. That was some pretty good pontificating Dave (seriously, good stuff).
  13. Very respectfully, I disagree. I find getting people's thoughts quite helpful.
  14. Thanks for all the discussion. I’ve got bigger fish to fry right now, so with the benefit of this discussion I’m going to just leave these wheels alone for now and focus on the mechanical stuff. I’ll make sure to keep my next question less controversial, so I’ll be asking about what oil is best, best tires, best color, and why my friend thinks he has a real Tiibut no snorkel (Ha).
  15. Thanks Mike - let me check what tires I have on there now.
  16. Good morning and thanks for the fast response. Huh, apparently I am out of touch on this.
  17. Probably a good idea to show you what she looks like on her current wheels.
  18. Asking for thoughts on my slow rolling '74 Tii project, I have period alloys on there now. Worth tracking down later wheels? Thoughts? Comments? Letters to the Editor?
  19. Thank you for, as usually, a great discussion and information sharing. Pictures of your cars is an inspiring, if humbling, bonus. Very much appreciate the coaching!
