  3. so I got a good 245 Getrag I am wondering what company is the best to get the kit from I have prices from Ireland, Aardvarc, and 2002 haus what are your reactions to these kits/companys? Ireland is by far the most expensive, are they worth it? thanks, chet
  4. Does anyone know of a Microfiber that will not fade? I am thinking of doing the same thing on mine thanks, chet
  5. that looks to just be the float, minus the metal tube that draws from the tank I replaced mine with a used sending unit from 2002 ad a couple of months ago there are different length sending units for different years (had to go through a pile of a couple hundred sending units) if I did it again I might go with someone cheaper but I would still go stock on something like that if you do get a used stock one make sure to clean it well I clogged a fuel filter when I put mine in chet

  8. I have a new head coming my way with a schrick 289 cam, the casing is off of a 76 e21. I have a 38/38 carb but everything else is stock oem including the springs and valves on the new head. Can I expect a horsepower or torque increase with the new head? thanks, chet

  10. I did a forum search and could not find what I needed I disconnected the brakes to get the shock cylinders off for repair After I did this I blead all off the brakes Pass rear Drive rear Pass front Drive front I used a Mighty vac I got a good seal around the bleeder valves but kept getting air after bleeding for a few minutes each on all four brakes Now the car pulls to the right during braking Which is the side that I dissconnected Could this be a leek? Bad brake booster line? Bad master cylinder? Thanks in advance guys Chet
  11. so I disconnected the front brakes when I pulled out the shock tube for repairs. I tried to bleed the brakes by connecting vinyl tubing to the bleeder valves, priming them with fluid, opening them, dipping the end of the tube in a container of brake fluid, and then pumping the brake. I did this on the front right brake, the only one I disconnected the master cylinder reservoir is full after repeating this process twice, the pedal still went all the way to the floor. after I closed the bleeder valves of course. did I do something wrong here? thanks, chet
  12. The hole in the bottom worked great, I just welded it up after I was done. thanks a lot guys. new shocks ride much better than the old ones. chet
  13. The old KYB strut is rusted to the strut tube. In other words the sheath that goes around the strut. I will try drilling that hole in the bottom. Thanks guys Chet
  14. I haven't been able to get the strut tube separated from the strut. I have contacted 2002 AD they quoted me $75 for an old one. Does anyone have one I can buy from them, or know where I can get one in the Los Angeles area. thanks
  15. sounds good, I talked to Blunt and he said that it will fit with some rolling of the fenders. thanks guys. chet
  16. I contacted Jeff Ireland and he said that if I used 195x50x15 tires that it should work well if I rolled the fenders. is this bad info? I would hate to buy these wheels and tires and not have them work. but I really like the look of these minilte "style" wheels. thanks for the info chet
  17. I am thinking of going with the 15" minilight wheels from Ireland Eng Does anyone have pictures of them set up on a 1 to 2 inch lowered roundie Did you roll the fenders? thanks, chet
  18. at the top of the shock tower there is an allen head you can use to keep the shaft from turning. if you can't reach the allen (like on the front) then use a pair of vice grips on the shaft between the coils. have fun, chet
  19. the shock wont come out of the tube, I got the nut off just fine
  20. I put in bilstein sport shocks in my 71' took almost all day, I got to the last front install and the old shock won't come out. I tried hitting it with a hammer (hard on the top, soft on the sides) but nothing happened. Then I tried a little heat from a plumber's torch, I know not too much because it could blow the shock up, but that didn't work either. the old shocks are KYBs, and I did notice a little rust at the top of the shock tube. HELP! I also made a lever out of steel and tried prying it out....... no beans thanks, chet
