  1. I think it is aluminum, I want to strip the paint off and polish it. is that possible or do you think I will need to repaint it black? also have you refinished the wood at all? thanks
  2. anyone know what kind of steering wheel this is? thanks
  3. anybody know the name of these wheels? and how low the suspension is? thanks, Chester
  4. mains.... .135 air carr..... .185 idle jets....... .55 I dont know what the pressure is. I know it is supposed to be around three psi but dont know how to check what it is. the pump is stock mechanical, in fact besides the carb, manifold and pertronix ignition the whole car is stock. how do I adjust the float level? and how do I adjust the fuel pressure. thanks
  5. I cant seem to get this dialed in correctly. I have put on a brand new weber 38/38 with a brand new cannon manifold. it runs strong but smells of fuel very stonglt and is smoking during hard acceleration. it is also sucking down fuel very quickly. I dont know what else to do. I took it to ireland engineering where I purchased everything and they tuned tuned the idle and the mixture but it is still smoking, a lot. anyone have any ideas? I have not checked the float adjusters yet but I was told this wouldnt effect the amount of smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I will post the jet sizes tommorrow morning. thanks, Chester
  6. as far as I know the fuel return is just a air quality control issue. I think you can plug the line but I would do it at the breather in the fuel fill neck in the trunk.
  7. I just put on the 38/38 weber with the redline manifold. It runs much stronger and I m very happy with it. The car has a much stronger fuel odor inside the cab when it is on and off. I dont think it is running too and dont know what else to do. thanks
  8. so I am in the process of installing the 38/38 weber carb and manifold that I got from Ireland Engineering. I have the old stuff off, and I am in the process of new manifold bolting. The bottom nuts that connect the manifold to the head are too close to the outer wall of the manifold. I am using 12 mm nuts as per the redline installation guide but my socket wont fit, and the nut wont fit once you get it down to it's seated position. Did they give me the wrong manifold? thanks Chester
  9. so I got my new carb and manifold and I am ready to go, I just need to know what the torque tolerances are for the manifold studs does anyone know what they are?
  10. Is there a step process for tuning a megasquirt system? I am buying one from ireland engineering in california and I have heard it is difficult to tune the system and wanted to get a jump start. thanks
  11. I think you passed by me on the freeway the other day I had the white 71' with rear end damage going very slowly on the freeway just wanted to say that your 70' is the reason that I bought my 02' Dont be too mad if it looks a little like yours someday I am in sierra Madre often, I would love to come by and see the cars if you have time Chester Wamboldt P.S. Thanks for the info on the ireland, there radiators seemed much higher quality than some of descriptions implied
  12. Has anyone used the ireland engineering radiator, I am thinking of buying one and need some feedback. thanks
  13. I have the original seatbelts in my 71'. the ones that latch to the metal hoop in between the two front seats. anyone have suggestions for replacements? thanks

  16. Had my 71' for about two weeks now and the driver's door lock has been acting up. it opens fine, but when I try to lock it it gets stuck in lock. twice now I have to take the door panel off and place the locking piece at the end of the cylinder back into place. any ideas where I can get a replacement or fix this in any way. thanks
  17. I bought one. I got a white 71'. needs some bodywork but it runs strong, no leaks, and it has recaros. I have a few questions. I have a body guy already, I am taking it to 2002 ad for that. anybody got any interior ideas? I cant seem to find anyone in the la area. just front and rear seat recovering. what type of sound deadening has worked for you guys? What type of ignition? (looked at petronix and crane xr700) I like the mini lite wheels, are they worth the extra cash or will one of the knock off companies do? who makes the best battery relocation kit with rear tower brace? I want to put a very streetable cam in there, what would you suggest for that, exhaust and carb setup? I know I have a lot of questions, I tried to find them out on the forum search but didnt come up with anything useful. thanks Chester Wamboldt
  18. also, I found a guy out in Chino that will do all of the work and has all of the parts needed on hand. Its a company called 2002ad. The guy can straighten and rechrome the bumper, straighten the dents, repaint and replace the trim that was damaged at a pretty good price from what ive seen. has anyone dealt with this place?
  19. thats the one I think. I thought so as well, but the guy is giving me such a good price I think ill go for it. but if you can tell me where i can find more out about those other cars that would be great.
  20. thank you very much. does that include paint, or just the bodywork?
  21. Im looking at a 71 with some rear damage. Anyone have any idea what this would cost to repair? i've included a picture of the damge. thanks

  23. What kind of tires do you guys run on Minilite wheels. I would like to get summer tires that get between 25 and 30,000 miles on them. I looked at bridgestone potenzas and they looked good but wanted your opinions. thanks Chester Wamboldt
  24. I have found a 2002 that is perfect for me in verona red, pre 73', all original with blue plates but it is an auto. I had planned on putting a 5 speed in whatever i bought anyways. is it a greater expense to swap the auto with a five speed, or with a four speed? how much am I looking at to do a good swap, doing the work myself? thanks Chester Wamboldt
