  1. Looking for a set of 4 stock 4.5x13 steel wheels for a roundie.

Preferrably with tires that hold air, and local to Bay Area for pickup.

Lemmerz or Kronprinz, date codes don't matter.

Looking for cheap ones so condition fair to good

    THX!

  2. Those sure are nice looking alloy, but unless you've got Megabucks, to have wheels custom made, roll fenders, add spacers, change studs, whatever else - find, and spend your bread on a set of wheels with the correct dimensions that were made to go on a 2002. So many to choose from, not always easy to find these days, but if you're diligent and patient, you will find something you like...there are a lot of options out there just look at the awesome wheel database on here.

It was actually a 1602. I don't know what happened to it. Supposedly some guy in Fremont has his E3 Bavaria.

I thought all squaretails that were not a 2002, 2002tii or a Turbo were 1502's but i guess if it's a '75 it could be a 1602. I can't tell from the photos which it is. Rastaman Vibrations yay-ahh POSITIVE

The coolness comes from the machining, which when sanded obviously disappears. I have the mk2's, one pair still had the clearcote on them but where there was even the most minimal corrosion or flaking of the clearcote, the maching was gone too, fine steel wool or scotchbrite is still too aggressive.  Polishing of the spoke faces is an option, but personally I don't like it, the machined look is techno cool the polished is pimped (and I'm too lazy to polish the clearcote or the wheels repeatedly). Has anyone tried the lathe option on used rims? They would have to be awfully pristine...I haven't checked the runout on mine but they have a lot of weights on them to get them balanced. You only need to skim the surface, but a lathe is not like a phonograph arm on a uneven vinyl record....

Just gotta find the right wheel shop to do the work.

Paint Satin Black and machine 'em. Then Satin Clear Coat to protect the machined surfaces from the elements

Probably not many places out there these days that would do that but there's gotta be somewhere

  5. Don't know the dude - I've bought stuff from him online, always OEM BMW stuff that was hard to find elsewhere at the time. Also, I like to support local small business owners when I can do it/afford it. He's offered some more rare stuff for sale (probs on here in the For Sale forum) and when I suggested a slightly lower offer, he straight out rejected them, so he won't wheel and deal, his price is right! LOL

Will report back on this experiment.

That's a nice looking tire for the price! Particularly with the gold centered mesh wheels on a Sahara car - keep up the good taste, brother!

I really like that look as well. It time to paint my wheels again, and I may opt for the black versions. I know somebody who has an incomplete set of 3. I may persuade him to sell them to me so that I can paint one black and see how well it looks on my car. I think they would look great on my Bristol car. They may look really good on my Granada car as well.

I say go for it - then paint two and put 'em on one side for a while on one of your cars. Down the road you might be able to find one more, or another set of 3 so you have two spares, to even everything out.

I bet they'd look damn good on either car.

Don't you need to put them on a lathe and re-cut the face?

Yes, if you want the original machined look. That's how my Cosmic Mk II's are for one of my other cars. I suppose you could just paint black, mask off the black, then paint the surfaced that would be machined in the usual silver/aluminum wheel paint and give it a few shots of satin clear coat

The Federal 595s may be the best bang for the buck. They are a cross between a touring and racing tire. While they are officially listed as high performance touring tires, they have very stiff sidewalls, much stiffer than a standard touring tire. And, they handle really well. But, they are made in batches, specifically for the Sprint racing series where they are mandated to use this tire vs. the full blown race slicks so to keep the speeds a little lower. They are not the most comfortable tires, but you can't really have both. If you want that crisp handling in the corners, this is the tire. When available, you can find a set on e-bay for about $300, shipping included. You can't beat that.

Then there are also those elusive Dunlop SP Sport GT tires which are made in Japan. They are also made in batches. I picked up a set a couple of years ago on e-bay for $300. These tires are more sophisticated than the Federal in that they have a softer sidewall, hence a little more comfortable, but surprisingly they are very responsive. I really like them and prefer them over the stiffer Federals. These are asymetrical tires with raised white letters on the outside. I just took a permanent black oil marker, purchased from Home Depot, over the white font. I hope they pop up somewhere again as I regret not getting an additional set for my other car. I've provided pics of them mounted on my 5 1/2" x 13" Cosmic alloys.

Carlos, have you thought about getting your Cosmic Mk I wheels back to the original black & machined finish?

Does anyone recognize these wheels?  They are for sale by me and are billed as 4x100 “ Panasport GTs/Minilites” but are in storage so the seller does not have a photo of the markings.  I am wondering how they would look on a 2002.  Any input appreciated!  Tom

They look cool, I've seen them on multiple models. You'd probably want to fashion some sort of center cap though, unless they come with them - Roundel wheel emblems come in lots of different diameters and can be trimmed to fit if you're into that kind of a project. Make sure the offset is close, you might need spacers although these look deeper set than most I've seen

I am still waiting ? but hopefully they will come in … praying on a miracle

All you guys gotta take this D-bag to small claims court. You gotta pay up front to file but maybe file something else to request sanctions? Of course, he probably won't have the money to pay anyone back - another conundrum. Anyone know an attorney that can help on the side for cheap? This is f'n ridiculous

  12. I'd just get some sturdy vacuum hose, reinforced or not, with the correct dimensions so you don't have to worry about different connectors and all that crap. Have some extra on hand if you need to change it every few years? I am assuming it's NLA thru BMW Classic?
