  1. Would if I could but it won't fit.
  2. OK, I have to admit this is on my 73CS twin 38/38 weber whose linkage interered with the mechanical pump. The electric pump is in the trunk and has rubber isolation washers.
  3. I'm running an electric Carter rotary fuel pump and it sounds like a mosquito on steroids. Anything quieter out there recommended?
  4. Bear in mind that I'm coming from 38/38 downdrafts not 32/36 but this sounds like the idle circuit is too lean and the initial throttle response may be influenced by the idle circuit in normal driving inputs (versus foot to the floor burn outs). Read the following (if you haven't already) and try going one size larger idle jets. http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/carburetor_set_up_and_lean_best_.htm Good luck with it.

  7. MIG it is. This is what I needed to know. Thanks all.
  8. I'm looking for advice/comment before buying a welder for a little fabricating and a lot of seam welding. Can't see myself doing body restorations (neither car needs any) but might try a roll bar eventually. Used to do a little torch welding about a life time ago so welding experience = zero. Doug
  9. When you say "if you don't mind the handling" what do you mean? More steering effort at low speed? Less responsive to steering input? I'm guessing that the track width probably increase with the lower ET - correct? Fenders have been rolled. Thanks.
  10. I just clicked your link and went straight to the site. Must be something on your side. http://www.my2002tii.com/
  11. Anthony: I think you are correct. I didn't pay duty on the 73CS I brought up in 2004 but they charged me the duty on the 76o2 I drove through in August. Customs dude said go ahead and appeal but pay up or you don't get in to the country. It's on my list of things to do. Along with the 5spd conversion, brake upgrade, recaros, suspension upgrades .... Doug
  12. Can't help you on the carrier but... Based on two cars I have bought and driven into Canada your friend can expect to pay 6% GST on the currency corrected amount of the purchase price and 6% duty on the same number. You can pay a broker to bring it into Calgary (did I get that right?) but I bet it will add a fair amount to the price. All paper (invoice, title and plate registration plus insurance if driving) has to be faxed to the border crossing of choice 72 hours in advance. Tell him not to risk a phony low ball invoice or he risks digging a bar of soap out of you know where if he gets caught! Customs are nasty. doug
  13. Anyone know what happened to the 320i forum? Lot's of good people and technical stuff.
  14. Do you mean the Volvo 240 Girling caliper is the "original"? This is what most commonly used. I know the 320i rotor/caliper is no problem so it comes down to the caliper.
  15. I have a 81 320i that I plan to strip for front and rear brakes plus wheels. The wheels are Exxim (?) 13X6 ET13 with nearly new YOKO's on them. Not great but paid for. My 76 o2 has had the stock springs chopped for lowering by the PO and the fender lips are rolled. I'm going to put fixed camber plates and proper lowering springs on which should provide enough clearance to correct the slight rubbing the wheel offset produces (I hope). Here's the problem. The Vented Brake article in the o2FAQ says "Be aware that certain 13" wheels will NOT fit over these upgraded calipers." Is this ET related or brand specific? Thanks, Doug
  16. What is the cheapest 2007 BMW available today? That's the budget. Is it nearly as much fun to drive? Nah. Can you work on it beyond switching the tires from summer to winter? You're kidding! Which one gets the most comments (sweet! or what is it?)? The '02 by a HUGE factor. It's not about the cost. It's all about the benefits.
  17. Have you tried using an air/fuel meter to fine tune the jetting? Might help the mileage withut loss of power. Several out there but I've been happy with http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/wideband.htm
  18. I used the PC680 under my e9 buckets. OK for summer use on the m30 block you would need two for winter use. http://www.odysseyfactory.com/specs.htm
  19. I put an Odessey PC 650 under the rear seat of my '73 CS and will do the same in the 02 I just picked up from Portland. The advantages are lower CG, the battery weighs half what a standard does anad I don't lose any room in the trunk.
  20. I've noticed several postings looking for 320i brake parts for upgrades, 5spds, recaros etc. Try the http://bmw320i.com/ link to a good 320i enthusiast site and check parts or post a request.
  21. The best reason to swap in ANY manual box for an auto is so you don't push both the brake and the accelerator at the same time with your right foot. Anythng more than a size 8 AAA and you get mixed messages. For a race more noted for the jackboots than tennis shoes, I don't understand how German engineers could have put the pedals so close together.
  22. You could just send the stock wheel to TEP (or others) and take 40 -50% off for about $150. Not quite as trick but has same effect as the JB for less $$$$.
  23. Will the 320i pedal set swap over?
  24. Top End Performance has a kit to move the front bumper in for $80. http://www.racetep.com/02bump.html
  25. I just bought a 1976 02a with 38/38 weber (same as on my CS) and am plotting out the next few years of upgrades. I have a 320i that will give up it's 5 spd plus whatever else may be of value (rear drums?). Out of curiousity, do any other throttle bodies fit the Tii intake manifolds (i like the look) if I went mega squirt/SDEI or should I also hedge my bets and pull the K jet from the 320 as well?
