Retractable seat belt install

Yes, the same foam used for insulation/sealing gaps in home construction. I used the regular variety (not minimal expanding) to make sure the entire cavity is filled. All the trim fasteners were removed and the corresponding holes were used for access and relief of the foam as it expanded. I can't remember whether the foam expanded into the side bulkheads of the footwells or not, so be careful in application around the front section.--Jim

Yes, my sunroof drains tubes were moved to the top if the fenderwell (as in Mike Macartneys restoration book) and was a big reason to try the foam. I has a negative response saying the foam would retain moisture. But if it is installed in dry conditions and expands to fill the entire void, I can't wonder what the difference would be compared to paint. I also sprayed a liberal amount of rust treatment into the cavity a few days before insulating.

I also used the foam in the cavity formed by the triangular box on top of the inner rear fenderwell (that the shocks mount thru). This can be accessed thru the bulkhead of the rear seats.--Jim

I completed the install of seatbelts yesterday using this method. The crux of the job is getting the nut and washer onto the bolt that secures the retractors. I wound up duct taping the nut/washer together and then to my finger, carefully placing the assembly into the access hole, and praying that the whole thing didn't drop into that cavity. I was successful both times, but there is a moment of faith there where you can lose the hardware in the empty area. read: go find a magnet. Overall very happy with the result. Big Thanks to Al for his great workmanship and communication.

wanted to post some pics of the belts that Al Bludevils did for me with help from Brandon B in TX who rechromed the rear Klippan rings. They turned out great, and Al was very thorough. Great communication, and attention to detail. Thanks again Al

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
