Next situation... KEYS. I've heard the horror stories from my buddy back east on replacing the ignition switch - Another one of those "I could probably do it but" . . . Can a dealer still get keys for these cars?

Thanks!!!

The BMW 2002 US VIN 2578838 was manufactured on September 28th, 1971 and delivered on
October 05th, 1971 to BMW Concessionaires G.B. Ltd. in Brighton/Sussex. The original
colour was Riviera, paint code 036

our local hole-in-the-wall locksmith had blanks and cut a few for me, for under 10 bucks (total).

Which "hole-in-the-wall" did you find them?? For future reference.

Theres a difference in key blanks. the OE keys are steel and expensive. The hardware store keys are soft and cheaper. Either works fine. I have some of each for my cars. The old crotchety dude who cut my OE keys bitched about how the steel keys were hard on his machine
