'72 Resto Body Question

The lr qtr panel is being cut out and replaced along with the rear panel.

It's a light hit - see pic - but the drivers door is a couple of mm unhappy in comparison with the perfect pass side.

The shop wants to get the factory dimensions to be 100% correct on their frame machine 1st but the factory manual only has the dims shown for the underbody which may not be complete enough.

Nowadays the computer on the frame machine is fed with data but for our cars apparently nothing available.

Is there any other source?

Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down.

Be careful of what body years you check on. I don't remember what years but there are different door widths so I assume other dimensions for the door openings may also be different

Most frame books and electronic data deal only with underbody dimensions, the door opening, trunk opening used to be in some frame books published by Motors, but that was long time ago. I believe they are no longer in that business or they sold it to Chief - which they may have kept those old issues.

The dimension should match the right side door opening.
