I need to replace my automatic transmission, can I use a 2002 automatic transmission? Any idea where I can get one?

the original trans is a 3HP12 from ZF. IF you can find one from an 02 out there it should fit i think. Since 3HP12s are getting more and more rare people are generally changing to the 3HP22 from a 320i.

yes, i dont know what, if any modifications need to be made, or if it will bolt right in.

Shift pattern will be different. In mine reverse is at the top park at the bottom.
