Here I go again! Keeping my eyes open for a Mint Condition 2002/2002Tii.

Preferably in the Northeast (garage kept I hope)

Had my first taste in 1972. (1971 red beauty)

Last one was a unblemished sahara/tan 73 2002. Should never had let it out of my grasp!

Any leads would be appreciated!

Where are you located? Are you willing to ship a car cross country? What's your budget? Do want an original or restored or modded car? Auto or manual tranny? Color requirement? Roundie or square tail preference? Sunroof required?

Hey:

Would prefer one as close to original as possible, with proper upgrades were necessary.

72tii Inka would be Primo! (yeah, I know its wishful!) But I seen one in NYC last year......so they are out there!

One that has been properly cared for, not quite concour's but moving in that direction.

Not looking to do all or any major work!

Shipping? If I can somehow insure a proper car, I would consider.

Note: While I have owned these cars since '72, I am no expert. I have lurked on this board an REALLY appreciate this group of 'beemers" (or is it bimmers) that live and breath all things 2002.

I will fall back to the sidelines and wait for my opportunity!

Thank you all!

Just be sure to post or ask AND take a 02 friend to look at one.

There are some scrupulous sellers on Fleabay & all over.

Better to ask than to get hosed and try to get a refund or sue. It is a hassle that way. You will find someone off of here near your town or close to it.

These guys would rather see you get a good solid one than go to court over a quick make over.

Do all the research you can while your looking. The better armed you are the happier you will be with your purchase.

Good luck on your purchase.

Right now on Ebay there's a '68 1602 Manilla for sale. It's in California. If I had the $8k ..and didn't already own a very nice 02, I'd buy this one. It's got 35k miles and is a repaint, but a nice car with minimum disappointments. And you'd own one of the earliest 114's out there.

I have a 1973 Tii with matching numbers. It is Golf (factory color).

Complete motor rebuild 2 years ago. New clutch, brake mastercylinder, etc. No sunroof. No snorkel. Nicely detaled engine compartment. Oversize fuel tank.

Regularly driven. Located in Western NC. Older paint job showing signs of age, but presentable. Not concours, but originality would justify taking it to the next level. Drive it now and enjoy it. Clean, original interior.

History shows car lived in Virginia, and Georgia. Lots of pictures if intersted.

Good luck

Thank you guys for welcome me in to the group! When the moment comes to pull the trigger I will be sure to run what I found by the group!

That '75 Munchkin looks like what condition I would have been interested in checking out! But I do want to hold out for the round lights.

I been checking EBAY and Craigs daily!

I reside in New Jersey if that means anything! (My 73 came from California, I just shake my head when I see all those beauties for sale out there!)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
