Shortening Ireland Throttle Cable?????

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

Anyone have any experience in shortening the throttle cable that comes from Ireland Engineering? Do I literally have to pull the ends off the cable? That just doesn't seem right and Ireland Engineering is exhibiting their usual fear of email.

I can post pictures later tonight, but just in case someone already knows what I'm talking about . . .

Thanks!

Sean

I'm into motorcycles and this is how it can be done on motorcycles. I have never seen a IE set up or cable.

I'm assuming that the IE throttle cable has a fitting that can be moved along the inner cable (for length) and it can be removed to cut the sheath down.

Hope this helps,

If not, I'm just a newbie trying to look brainy!! LOL

The sheath ? (the outer part)

For the sheath

Figure out how much it needs to be cut down and pull the end off the inner cable. Now, pull the inner cable into the sheath, just behind where you need to make the cut in the outer cable.

DONT pull the inner cable completely through the sheath, it will be very hard to get back through. You want the inner cable to sit just below where the cut is going to be made on the sheath.

Cut the sheath and then push the inner cable back through the sheath. You may need to "thread" the inner cable back to get it to come out and not completely fray the end of the inner cable (spin the inner cable in the direction of the way the strands are twisted on the inner cable). You may also need to cut a small portion of the inner cable to get to where the ended arent all frayed so your end will fit back on the inner cable.

Inner Cable

If you need to shorten the inner cable, just mount the cable up and run the inner cable through the end to where it would work fine and when it is installed, cut off the excess..

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
