Gearbox identification?

A friend has emailed me a pic of a gearbox he has. I cannot get to the box to i.d the numbers but it is mine? Can you guys help?

thats a 5 speed for sure, check the output flange also, the desirable ones are with 3 bolts flage for 6 bolt guibo type.

It is a 5 speed close ratio.

Hi,

no close ratio, because the switch for the reverse gear is on the upper side of the gearbox, so thats 0,87 ratio in 5th gear. In german called "Schongetriebe". It is a Getrag 245 E21 gearbox, with first gear left in front. The perspective of the photo is not good, so I can´t say if this is a 4 or 6cylinder gearbox.

If it's a Getrag 245 overdrive 5 speed from the E21, than I believe 5th gear is 0.805 (or 0.806), not 0.87 as quoted above.

Ah, yes you´re right. Getrag 245/4 is 0,805.....
