Any danger with a leaking warm-up regulator other than...

Other than the loss of coolant, are there any dangers with driving a '74 tii with a coolant leaking warm up regulator. The regulator functions properly, pushing the stem out as the motor warms up.

Also, what is the cause? I couldn't find any diagrams showing the insides of the regulator. It appears the leaking area is pressed in. TIA

I really want to drive this car to Eureka Springs tomorrow morning.

no danger ......... ?

over heating.....

having to repair it as an emergency - with no time or place

VS

taking the time to repair it in a well lit, warm,

dry cozy place when you have plenty of time

for now, don't drive further than walking distance from home .

likely the aluminum has eroded over time. I have seen this on several tiis that have not had the coolant changed regularly. You will have to replace the warmup regulator or the entire pump if you can't find somebody willing to sell only a warmup regulator. I have several Kugelfischer pumps with warmup regulators available.
