My *favorite* page in the owner's manual!

In the factory owner's manuals before 74 or so, on page 51 the following priceless "translation" appears:

"Hey Mr BMW,

my rear wheel squeaks like hell!"

"-Not surprising, old boy,

if you forget the regular inspections!"

I'd love to find someone able to blow this up to an 18" x 24" (or larger) poster!

enjoy!

You should have seen the Owner's Manual in my 1955 Porsche Speedster.

There were great literal translations like "Into 1st gear the transmission put". These beauties went on throughout the manual. Things wern't any better in either my ' 58 or ' 59 Cabriolets.

Sorry to disagree. I never liked the picture once my older brother suggested that this was a ploy to get the kid in line and take his wheel to the dealer for service instead of doing it himself.

Is the man really helping? Or just lecturing? What's the boy supposed to use on the wheel anyway, GL4 or 5? MTL or Dextron? What's the recommended service interval?

The real problem is not the picture but the caption. The man is telling the boy don't use the big dog method get a timing light so you can see where the big dog has been!
