Licesnse Plate Light Wiring Question

Hello,

As you can see, I need to re-wire the license plate lights. This is next on my list. I'm not sure what was once connected. I'm guessing that B and C should be connected. I'm thinking that maybe A and D were once connected, only because they both have black electricians tape on each end. I'm not sure what E should be connected to, and, the area I have circled is all shaved off, exposing wiring. So one question I have is, can I buy just a small wiring harness that replaces the trunk wiring somewhere? If not, is there somewhere that has the diagram of this somewhere? Also, one of the license plate lights is pretty cracked, and I'm wondering if they are left/rights? Or are they universal?

different depending on the year/fuse box setup.

6 fuse cars--license plate lights are on fuse 2 with the right tail light

all 12 fuse cars--wired separately from either left or right tail light.

Easy way to do this. turn your parking lights on and with a voltmeter pick out the hot wire. This connects to the little screw terminal inside the license plate light. The other wire should be brown, and it's the ground. Trace it back to the common ground point in the trunk (where the tail lights, brake lights etc all ground) and make sure it's grounding properly--or check with an ohmeter. Solder up and insulate any breaks in wiring caused by ham-fisted PO, and you're done.
