alternator bracket offset

Uhhh, if you mean the slider bit, yeah, I think it makes a slight

jog to the left, then straightens out.

But then, I've also seen straight ones, now that I think about it.

Much more essential is the condition of the pivot bushings in

the bottom of the alt.

I just had mine off my '71 today. It has a slight offset. It seamed to fit best when the offset was towards the rear.

I'm troubleshooting a possibly related issue... I've noticed the alternator on my '74 tii is slightly tweaked towards the radiator and thus the pulley is not aligned with the water pump pulley. I just installed a NEW lower bracket and lower bushings yet it's still tweaked. Should I induce an offset (i.e., bend it) of the bracket to adjust the alternator's position... or is there another way? Thanks!
