yet another differential question

I have a late E21 3.91 LSD, and am having to change out the flanges for some double drilled ones that i purchased from Rob at 2002 haus, and am wondering on how to get the damned things out.

I read in the faq section that they flanges are held in by a snap ring just above the splines.

Now do i have to disassemble the carrier and such to do this??

This is probably a stupid question, but please help :)

I take an average size chisel, put on safety glasses, get a good pry on

it, then hit the side of the chisel with an average hammer.

The impact seems to do a better job than steady pressure.

Some are really tight, some pop right out.

When you reinstall, you may find that you have to set the diff on its

side and center that clip in the splined hole to get the new flange

to seat. I've never had to hit them with anything harder than the heel

of my hand to get 'em back in, and was always

afraid that if I did, I'd bend the clip.

Once you see how it works, it all makes sense.
