For those with race prepped car.... Ride height?

I've been working on a new suspension over the winter. I'd like to get some feedback on front ride height. I've modified the front struts so that I have another inch or so of travel and increased the spring rate. Please measure from the ground to the the bottom of the rocker weld seam just behind the front wheel. I used to run the car so low that I had to cut and re-weld the cockpit side to the wheel well so the tire didn't rub when going lock to lock. I'm too low. Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

I'm not running particularly low-

it's apart on stands right now,

but I'm pretty sure it's about 5 1/2".

And the same in back. I haven't moved

my pickup points, and the geometry goes so

bad if you go too much lower...

Thanks, I'm at 4.75 now. I've checked the bump steer and camber as the wheel goes through the arc and it is still within spec.

Amusingly, I've never found ANYTHING I did messed up the bump steer

with the stock front suspension-

even using Bav front track arms didn't mess it up.

BMW certainly did that part right.

And I should have said that I run pretty soft springs (and big bars, if you

read Circle Track...) in the #400 front/ #300 rear range, so I let the

car move vertically more than most do. So in a corner, I suspect that

my dynamic ride height drops below 4 1/2"- and that's not too far from where

the front suspension starts to go really goofy.

I've thought about using the 'ball joint spacers' but never spent the time

or money to see if they'd work, and if they'd be an improvement.

On the surface, it seems like a good idea...
