new alternator - differences from old one

my new reman AL89X has a small black box mounted to the middle of the back of the alternator. it says "2.2uF" and "100Volt", and has a wire going to the B+ post. my old one doesn't have this. what is it? should i keep it on there?

also, the other post (B+ B+) on the other side has a new nut and washer on it , but my old one has a rubber cover on the post. kind of confused now if i should wire it up the same exact way as my old one even though there are these differences.

2.2uF is a noise (electronic) suppressor - anti radio interferance -

uF is 'micro ferad' (sp?) - yes transfer it from old to new

i wonder why my old alternator was missing this "noise suppressor" black box.

weird...although i'm somewhat new to '02's, i've never seen one of these devices before on other alternators/generators.
