Schrick experts; not necc.02 related

We are installing a cam in an m30, and the owner provided it in an open Schrick box with handwritten numbers, however BMW is cast in the shaft, I thought schrick had their own blanks, I don't want to toss in a regrind. Anybody know how to verify authenticity?

I've never seen a regrind Schrick in the VW world.

Hey Dave, I've installed a LOT of Schrick cams in VW over the years, and as Pinepig said, I've never seen a regrind. Not sure how to check authenticity, but just saying Schrick does indeed use their own blanks.

Hi Dave,

To the best of my knowledge all Schrick camshafts have a Dr. Schrick script cast into them along the cam barrel towards the front..you can't miss it.

I would agree that it should say Dr Schrick on it.

I looked at my Schrick Catalog and it shows the following M20 2 valve cams

BMW M20 6 Zyl. 2 Vent. (2.0 - 2.5 l)

Korman says not to worry as long as the right #s are stamped in the end, however anybody can buy a stamp set, we will compare the lobe thickness to a stock cam.

I think the casting #s only relate to the blank.

The number for the cam is located on the front flange where the pulley bolts to. On new cams these are printed or screened, on older cams like a externally oiled 328 scrick I got from Jeff (poster above "raceskibmw) it is engraved by hand.

the cam you have is indeed a regrind shrick has their own billets and they had schrick or dr. schrick cast in the cams.
