The state sends letters to owner's of old(er) cars and offeres to buy them to get the high polluting vehicles off the raod. It is somewhat ironic, given that I basically never drive the car anyway.....

used to be) that the state crushes 'em as recieved, allowing NO parts to be removed. I was talking with Sherman Martinez several months ago about wrecking yard "finds", and he mentioned seeing a euro E24 in with a bunch of emissions abatement cars - euro bumpers, alpina wheels, the works. Sherman said a guy at the yard told him that state regulations prohibited taking ANYTHING off any car before its date with the crusher, no matter how rare or valuable the parts might be.
