engine and drivetrain E21 2.0 engine specs

G`day everybody,i have just bought a 1977 E21 320i parts car.The engine has been recently done up apparently and seems to run well.Can anyone tell me what the stock specs of this engine would be ? Compression,valve sizes,ect.

Planning on putting twin side drafts on it.Could i expect the same type of power output as a stock Tii ??

You don't say where you are from but with RHD NK car, maybe not the US?

U S spec 77-79 E21 320i has 8:1 compression and E21 cylinder heads (cam, valves) are the same as late 2002.

'Euro' spec engines had higher compression but I don't remember what exactly, maybe 9.3:1? Anyway, they would be closer to tii specs.

I've got cars with both US spec 320i and tii motors and the tii is definitely stronger.

Assuming that you have a Euro E21 320i: Rated HP is 125; Compression is 9.3:1. Don't recall what the torque rating is for your engine, but, due to the higher compression, more than the USA version of the 320i.

The '77 USA E21 320i is rated at 110 HP and has 8:1 compression. Don't recall the torque for the USA 320i.

Thanks for the replies.I think we (in Australia) got the euro spec cars mostly.Depends now what pistons were used in the rebuild !! I will try to look in the plug holes when i get the engine out.Thanks again,Mal.
