My new 69 2002 (Long) (Lots of Pics)

So, I'm sure you guys remember I had apparently found a rust free 69 2002 for well under 1k. My girlfriend and I had agreed that if i paid more than 500 for it, I would have to sell stuff to pay it off - as I don't need a 3rd 2002. In any case - the guy calls me yesterday and is like "hey i've got this guy who wants to pay me a grand for the car - so if you want it you had better come get it" I'm like okay - this guy is dicking with me. so, I have him call me back at 4:45. 4:45 passes - 5:30 passes - and I decided to go try to find this thing myself. FYI the guy doesn't have a phone so I cant call him. In any case, I drove around Sugarland, TX for the better part of an hour trying to find this guys place. His breif description of where he lived was like "I live in the middle of a corn field where they're about to build all those new houses." Long story short - I got a hold of his neighbor - and after hauling ass and fishtailing around on dirt roads in a 5 foot tall corn field I stumbled upon 2 trailers - one of which has what appeared to be a very nice 69 2002. I knocked on his door and wasnt there - kicked around - looked at the car. I was very happy until i found a hole in the frame rail that I could fit 4 fingers into. I had just about had it when finally he called at like 7:30 - claiming to be here in 15 minutes. I straight up told the guy I didn't want it - but he was like look - I need to sell this thing for the money to get a motor dor my mopar. I told him I'd talk to him when he got there - in 15 minutes. I should have learned earlier this guys time was messed up. In any case, right after he left I finally looked in the trunk - where I found 2 brand new BMW door seals, 2 brand new rear window seals, a set of tail lights, a starter (which I later found out the car needed) and some other misc. Stuff. I realized that the value of the car was nearly contained in the trunk. so I stood around - took pictures - heard coyotes cackling a couple of times. By the way it turns out they lived out there for free. Something to do with tax breaks for the owner of the property. When he showed up at 9 - I offered 450 and he accepted. I only did this because I thought I could make most of my money back out of the parts in the trunk. The rust had me disappointed. So, a deal was made and he had the car in my parking lot by 10 - which was cool. So, thats kind of a short story. but heres the cool stuff thats on the car -

5 speed tranny

LSD

320i radiator

Brembo aluminum calipers

320i rear drums

Nardi steering wheel

Weber 38/38

Header welded onto a shop-made magnaflow exhaust

working temp, oil psi, and coolant temp gauge

A/C

Bilsteins

Some sort of springs

"custom" baby blue interior

I'd say in retrospect it was a pretty good deal. Here's some pics.

Yeah its quite the driver with all the new stuff on it. Still havent managed to get the door panel on. It's just sitting in my garage. I've been having a rough time getting the fan blade to not hit the radiator. 320i fan time, i guess.

It's all very night. Heres the confusing part - The fan blades (both 400mm and 360mm) wither hit the alternator, radiator, or both. the gap is just really tight. I'm not going to fry my brain thinking about it though.

Considering all of the parts, I think you got a hell of a deal. That car might even make a great beater. If you are interested in selling the rear quarter window seals, please let me know. I need some badly.

The seals are all on ebay. 100 for the rears - 200 for the door seals. I'll pull the door seals for 240 plus shipping. The only rear window seals I found were 70 each so 100/set plus ship seems to be an ok deal. and yeah - I think I'll turn the car into a beater. I found out today the A/C may be 134a - but im not sure. the 5 speed and ac though would be good for houston traffic.

Let me know if you guys want em and I'll yank em off ebay.

This is a set of rear window seals for your BMW 2002 or 1600. They are Brand new and are in perfect shape. Save yourself from having to replace sheet metal further down the road. Ask me how I know.

The steering wheel is in ok condition. the horn button has some rust spots and the wood can use a varnish. Its up for grabs if anyone wants it - but not on the market per se
