...and while your into yer struts -

the bottom ball joint is most important!

inspect for rust, and if the bottom 3-special screw holes in the

bottom of the strut are bad - new strut tubes are cheep and

available. Excellent time for new wheel bearings also.

Jerry,

If, when you ask about strut tubes, you're referring to #16 in the 2nd diagram in this thread(above) then they show up in a search on realoem.com as part #31332450121 described as Protection Tubes for $22.88.

Again, thats what I found on a quick search of realoem.com which is a great resource of info like this (no affiliation).

Check it...

'strut tube' referes to the "STRUT" which is the metal tube with spindle attached. The tii and carb struts being different - spindle dia. for larger wheel bearing i.d.'s on the tii part.

the bumper stop removal is only for BILSTEIN "SPORT" cartridges,

leave it in when fitting BILSTEIN H.D.'s . I don't know about any other mfg. shock insert because only BILSTEIN matters.

Thanks, c.d.

Well whether or not we're talking about replacing the actual strut or just their tubes it he will need then need the part # of the strut, no?

Going from realoem.com that part # is 31311103663
