Octavo 100+ sort of Alpina-ish 13" wheel

Made in England.

Picked these up from from Ben T. a few weeks ago. No major gouges or kerbings. Note the black background (between the spokes) and machined face. I sent them to the refinisher yesterday.

Will post "after" pictures later in the week.

BTW, my plan is to sell these. That is, if I can part with them after I see them all shiny and pretty.

....roughly, ballpark, etc...?

I'm curious since I'll be headed down the very same road.

Thanks,

I liked them as they looked like the Alpina wheel, but had slightly less spokes. So when you cleaned them you didn't rib all the skin off your knuckles. www.midlandwheelsuppliers.co.uk or .com provide the chrome centre caps, which I then fitted the Alpina wheel centre caps too. Keep them Rich.

Figure about $180-$200/wheel, retail.

I had to send those back because the refinisher was a bit "over-zealous" with the clear coat. It's so thick the centercaps won't fit in a couple of them.

Original Cosmics never had quite the depth of protection that newer wheels have. As I remember from 1973, mine started getting little striated grey streaks as the salty water from Michigan roads crept under the clear coat near every little chip and scrape.

Cheers!

Rich,

On your wheels, were the centers (where the lugnuts are) black or polished? The refinisher just called and wants to know.

I think I'm gonna stay with the centers polished.

Jeeeez...

Now, I'll *have* to keep them...LOL!

Delia, you're becoming quite the wheel collector! Those are real nice. I should be getting some Cosmics soon, bead-blasted and ready to finish. I'm contemplating just giving them a flat clearcoat for the raw and unfinished look. We'll see!

and have black centercaps. Funny, a while back I offered them on the board for 100 bucks for the set as long as I got a set of steel rims with tires good enough to roll the parts car around on in exchange. No takers, but now I have some HF rollers so I don't care if they are flat, so no selling of the 100+ for cheap. I never had a problems with my Cosmics being discolored here in L.A.

mine are black in the center as well. I hope the picture works, I've never posted a photo.

picture came out great, nice car.

You can't sneak anything past old eagle-eye (F1reverb) he is a stickler for details. Which is why he is such a good photographer. Right? Jay?
