engine and drivetrain 1602/2002 parts interchangeability?? Help?

I saw a cheap 72' 1602 on the weekend with a 2L motor (engine number from 2002). What is different on the 1602 that cant be used on the 2002? I know brakes are smaller, it does have a short neck diff. What else is different?? I'm keen to buy it for a parts car but just not sure. TIA Beaner7102

Hey Shaun,

If you end up getting the car, i would be keen to buy the rear bumper off you (if its the short early style) as i am getting paint scratching on the one i have on at the moment. - longer style. Is the one your talking about the white one in SA?

Tom, are you on the BMWCCV message board? The car was up on it a little while ago. It is a pretty sound little car...Wasnt a bad price too.

It has since been sold to a dealer and the price has increased. Shauns barganing skills will get hima good deal anyway.

Im pretty sure its Fjord blue.

I saw it on 'drive' website. Sorry Tom its a 72' and has the long rear bumper like the one in your pic. Just trying to scratch up the cash at the moment, then I will make them an offer. Beaner7102
