Source of switched power (accessories) for stereo install

Hah... USB sticks did not exist 50-years ago, nor did highfalutin digital sound systems.

You could wire your radio by splicing into the Red/white wire on the hazard button connector, or better yet, the Red/yellow wire to the lighter from fuse #1. However, this would provide a continuous +12V to the radio at all times, thus risking a dead battery if you park your car and forget to turn off the power-hungry stereo.

Perhaps "smart" radios turn themselves off if they don't detect ear drums inside the cabin??

Steve,

My car was delivered with a single Low tone (335 Hz) horn which was mounted on the driver's side hood support.

All the USA factory wiring diagrams that I have seen show two horns; however, some literature suggests the right-side horn is optional. I looked at the "high-end" BMWs in '70s, such as the 5 and 7 series, and found the same 335 Hz horn on the left and a 400 Hz horn on the right. Part numbers are Bosch 0320143026 (Low 335 Hz) and 0320143027 (High 400 Hz).

BMW also offered 510 Hz, 420 Hz, and 410 Hz Bosch high tone horns to use with the stock single 335 Hz low tone.

 

Does anyone have an original two-horn car??  Please share the numbers!

PS: Remember the bumper sticker in the '60 - '70's....  "Honk if you're Horny"???   Lots of tootin' in those days!

There is also this three hole connector under the steering wheel area.  Blue/White is dimmable current, green/white is used in the tii's for the electric fuel pump and grey/white I'm not sure where it goes.

You could always do a handy aftermarket install like this...viva Italian air horns!
