Here's the latest post on my e21 Alpina C1 2.3 blog. Not a 2002 but, hey!

now: '72 Inka 2000 touring, '82 Alpina C1 2.3  & '92 M5T (daily driver)

before: a lot of old BMWs (some nice, some not so much), a few air-cooled 911s and even a water-cooled Cayman S

Josh, glad to see you are still at it.  I had been meaning to send you a note to see wth was going on with that car but have been sidetracked (myself).  Like you I am resorting to subcontracting certain things out, otherwise it will never get done.  This '84 C1 is 125k Eur or about $132k USD.  That car looks pretty perfect to me.  If I remember right, you have the original C1 motor but built a different one with larger displacement?

Still at it, although there have been more than a few times where I would have bailed if I could have. I would guess you've had those dark moments, too. I may even make my goal of Monterey this August. But it won't be perfect. Good, but not perfect.

 

The original C1 motor is in my garage, waiting for me to rebuild it (it has a blown head gasket; that's what started the whole restoration). The motor in the car is a 2.8 M20 build. Obviously, it will look original (other than the Alpina numbers stamped in the head and block), using K-jet but mostly ones used in the euro 2.8 Porsche 911S as they flow the appropriate amount of fuel. I copied the build from a couple of guys I know of, one the original owner of another C1.
