Trim rings from what?

Pretty sure these are 02, but need some expertise..

Three chrome ones...7 1/16" OD, 15/16" deep; all marked Hella, SB3, SB3 DOT, and SB3 respectively?

Pair of black-painted brass...yes, brass rings, 7 1/8" OD, about 17mm deep, marked Hella SB. Guessing early?

Easy answer:  the chrome rings were used on 72 and 73 US roundies--those fitted with shallow grilles; the black painted (actually powder coated) ones are identical to the chrome ones,  but were used on squarelights with their all-black plastic grilles.  Neither are handed--they'll fit left or right buckets, unlike the earlier asymmetrical ones.

 

And IIRC  the chrome rings are also brass underneath that chrome.
