What else should I do while I have the intake manifold off?

Besides opening the intake side of the manifold to accept the 39/38  I would expect the the manifold should be ported out to port match the head

Eight is a complete set but you could get by with 4 and just replace the lower nuts which are the real trouble.  The nuts are a course M8 but make sure to get the reduced wrench size 11mm instead of the standard 13mm which is what you already have.  Any of the usual 2002 vendors will probably have them.  The brass is kind of sexy too ?.
