WTB early seats in original condition.

Assuming you want headrest seats, the chromed-recliner headrest seats were produced from just before January 1, 1969 until the summer of 1972 (U.S. 2002’s began phasing out chromed recliners in 1971; U.S. tii’s used chrome recliners until the end of the 1972 model year [August 1972]).

Hi, that's exactly what I am looking for but in very good original condition. I don't want to re-upholster with moder vinyl.

Very very nice! Here’s my dating estimate.

Late-style round taillight molded vinyl, used from late 1971 through July 1973. Chromed recliners, used from the first appearance of front seat recliners — late 1967) until VIN 2762629 (August 1972) on U.S. tii’s (that’s the end of the 1972 model year) but phased out unevenly in the 1971 and 1972 model years for U.S. 2002’s. Tubular headrest with 10mm supports and chromed escutcheons, used from late 1968 until VIN 2763352 (January 1973) on U.S. tii’s (mid-1973 model year) and approximately the same time for U.S. 2002’s.

If we look for the convergence of the three factors, I’d guess the seats date between November 1971 and August 1972. Because of the “chromed 1972 tii recliner” thing, however, odds are greater that they originated in a U.S. tii rather than a 2002. There’s probably a dated manufacturer’s card (P.A. Rentrop, AG) in the back of the backrests.

Like I said, very, very nice!

Regards,

Steve
