Year:: 1973

Make:: BMW

Model:: 2002

Price:: 15500

Location: : Hollywood CA

I've got this car for a few yrs. I knew the previous owner had this TII for a long time before me.

The 02 sat for a while before I purchased it and remained parked for a while.

Underwent a Body/paint/interior refresh

Currently it looks nice and has countless new parts on it .E21 Recaro seats ,euro turn lights

Ireland Engineering front and rear Sway bars, springs , Bilstein shocks Panasport wheels , new trim , stainless steel euro bumpers center console

Reconditioned front and rear door cards

New carpet , nice dash. New headliner Alpine sounds

Newer paint

VIN# 2763400

KF pump has been rebuilt by H&R in 07/13

While having the car inspected I just learned the engine is a non TII engine HOWEVER I've managed to obtain a

278xxxx engine complete minus the alternator & fuel lines to replace it with.

Comes with the sale

Here's a short story

when I purchased the car it was set up as a carb car with 38/38dgas weber .

I had everything needed in the trunk to convert the engine back to "original fuel injection".So I did the conversion over a 2 month span without ever checking the block number or performing a compression test . I feel like a idiot .

Fast Forward to now I've driven the car like 5-6 times all. Short drives under 10 miles.

The car drives ok. Not great. Here's why.

I learned that the current installed engine (cylinder 3) has lower compression

. Cylinder 3 has 170

While 1,2, & 4 have 200 ( I know it should be less but read more below)

The engine has been rebuilt before (very clean internally )

modified / Cam/ higher compression ratio.

I did not know the engine was modified until recently. Which explains why I had a super hard time tuning everything and it kept running rich.

I'll try to explain all the problem areas the best I can.

The Brakes stick.

The cooling system needs to be gone thru

needs front wheel bearings.

Needs tires

Interior needs rear view mirror installed.(I've got the mirror)

Door , window & windshield seals are all new aftermarket but honestly they kinda suck. However they are doing the job.!

Steering hub needs work for the Nardi wheel to mate up properly. One of the screw holes is too big.

Either a little JB weld or replace. They are about $100 at crowder.

Blinker lamp needs to be installed

Needs heater control covers.

Driver seat back does not recline back or forth.

Rear seat belts will need attention.

$15.5 firm

I am the person who almost purchased the car but had 2002werks perform an inspection.  Among many other things, my inspection found the engine not to be original and that there were compression issues.

I'm glad I had an inspection at $22,500 and still passed at $15,500, after speaking with 2002werks on what the car needs.

Good luck with the sale.

Tony,

I passed at $15,500 because I don't think the car is worth that much as it sits.  Your note basically agrees.

As would be expected, it's annoying when the initial description is inaccurate.  Giving you the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake I wish you good luck.  Atlantik is a beautiful color.

Good luck.
