Tach in dash quite working

Recommended Posts

If you replaced your points with another option such as Pertronix or Crane, make sure the black wire that used to plug into your points still is connected to negative terminal of your coil. When you turn on the key does the needle bounce a little? if not then likely it is not getting power.

Tach circuits are pretty simple, not much to go wrong. Positive power, ground, and signal. if any one of those isn't present your tach will not work. If they are then your tach is probably dead. Remove the tach and get out your tester and look for power when the key is on, the back of the tach is marked with a +(green wire), a ground symbol (brown wire), and the other one is the signal (it is marked with a "1", black wire)
